Zhalvazho: Basic Information (Shjal - va - shjoh)

Zhalvazho is a collective term for an island chain and mountainous continent to the north of the Ocean of Aber. The natives to the lands are all bestial (tabaxi, aarakockra, gnoll, etc).  There are no native inhabitants of humans or demi-humans (elves, dwarves, gnomes, halflings etc). The lands of Zhalvazho have long been left untouched by the outside world due to the natural dangerous.  The waterways among the archipelago are prone to whirlpools and home to sea creatures that the natives revere.  The continent rises from the sea as if it's entire continental plate were elevated two hundred feet.  The natural fortress has dissuaded colonizers in the few periods of history when civilizations would be seeking out new lands.
A thousand years into the Age of Community, Phaloxil of the Storm Broken Lands undertool the effort to begin their efforts in Zhalvazho.  Phaloxil's  acts of colonization have always been a mix of finding areas rich in resources and a desire to bring modern civilization to primitive areas to make life "better" for the inhabitants. The essential motto is "Healthy Societal Interaction and Healthy Resource Extraction".  However, due to the particularly extreme situation of Zhalvazho, there is a notably higher amount of what we understand as Kipling's "White-Man's-Burden" thrown in. Understandably, the locals have mixed feelings at best about Phaloxil's deeds and plans.
Legend Lore: The land of dragonborn that the Silver Wardens Torinn came from is part of continental Zhalvazho.
Names 99% of Phaloxil soldiers butcher the name into "Jal - bra' - jo".
