Hiskalon: Basic Information

Hiskalon is a continent to the west of the Ocean of Aber. The continent has been populated by folk for as long as the Storm Broken Lands. However, they did not suffer through the Age of Isolation. While they have suffered their own trials, none of them shut down the continent for 500 years allowing for progress to continue. Hiskalon is the continent that contains then trade city of Derth, the name sake of New Derth.   The continent is home to a number of number of human kingdoms in the West with isolated demihuman communities found in their own environments to the east. The trade city of Derth is centralized between them as a even trading ground for all of them to come together.

The Kingdoms of Man

Cordalia: The most forward of the kingdoms is also the most conservative. Centralized upon the continent, Cordalia has no coastline. The kingdom is ruled by humans and view other races as other. The use of magic is highly regulated and in most cases illegal. It is not uncommon for a wandering priest to be brought in on charges for their crimes of healing a peasant. Opposite of this, the kingdom is relatively advanced in science and engineering. The large standing army makes use of mobile siege engines to fill the gap of their magical deficiencies.   Rafethēten: A scattering of communities about the desert have been claimed by warlords, merchants, and wealthy financiers to form a confederacy of cities. Magic is embraced by the elite and used as a leverage point of class warfare.   Xing Kun: Upon the western coast of Hiskalon and separated from the others by mountains, the Xing Kun are a private, wealthy kingdom that prefer the peace of isolation, especially in comparison to the militaristic Cordalia they share a mountain border with. Merchants who manage to establish trade relations with the Xing Kun find themselves with monopolies on the market back home.   Falkrim: The wild lands of the north, Falkrim is not a single kingdom but many. Any who can establish a foothold in the area and maintain it can claim whatever title they wish. Because of this, warlords are many and histories are short among these lands.

The Environs of the Demi

Bornic Range: Home to smaller dwarven and gnomish towns, the mountain range features a dangerous natural phenomenon. Up in it's center is a dell that creates a high altitude basin. The basin fills through autumn and it's one channel freezes over in winter as more precipitation gathers up top. In the spring, the formation's shape causes the center to melt before the channel's blockage. When the blockage fails, it starts a sudden flooding that poors down through the mountains. This phenomenon happens on a yearly basis.   Forest of Thylenfer: This woodland is home to elven and fey peoples as well as a few human communities that have earned the right to live there. The elven communities rarely let outsiders in, even the villagers of the woodland, with all trade occurring with Derth.   Mount Lune: Heightening the level of isolation is the singular mountain of Mount Lune the exists between the Bornic Range and the Forest of Thylenfer. Mount Lune is home to the mystic and mysterious Moon Elves.   Legend Lore: Hiskalon was the first continent created within Malpos. Aspects of it's creation are impacted by the rules of D&D 3.5.
