Prologue - Strange Kolikoly
A group of Kolikoly fishers went out to their local fishing spot to get their daily catch. After a morning of competing to catch the most fish, the fishers broke for lunch. A number of wild penguins approached, as they normally do when raw fish is involved. However, these penguins were different and attacked the group. Most of the penguins had a slight purple glow and were able to be held off by just two of the fishers. However, a Kolikoly at the back with a vicious beak that had lightening streaks of purple and red avoid the frontline and knocked out some of the weaker fishers in the back. But the frontline was able to turn around and swarm the vicious Kolikoly. After the fight, the beak of the Kolikoly stopped glowing and looked like a regular vavany (a beak attachment weapon). Upon further reflect, the group remembered about rumours of similar attacks happening around Foibtan recently. They hurried back to town with the vavany in their bags. Upon returning to town, word of the attack spread quickly. A large gathering formed outside the Fisher's guild to hear the news. However, just as the tale was being told, one of the fisher's put on the vavany and succumbed to its power. The other fishers noticed this and a chase ensued. The vavany was ultimately caught again, but not before one of the other fishers perished in the chase. A gathering of the respected powers across the town was held to decide the fate of the fisher and the vavany. Since the vavany was not able to be removed normally, the fisher had its beak amputated and was imprisoned as punishment in the death of the other fisher. Ultimately, the fisher committed suicide, as once they were no longer under the influence of the vavany, they were not able to live with the fact that they murdered their best friend. The vavany was sent to the elder's lodge to be studied against the knowledge of the myths of the Kolikoly. Some light studying of the vavany was done during the day while it was kept under strict guard. The studying found tales that told of four powerful legends that would each fight off a glowing evil force in its own way. There was also reference to Mailaka Iray, but it was unclear what this was. Some were vague weapons or powers, some were vavnies and some were Kolikoly. However, they mostly agreed that it was one of the four powers. There was little information on the other three powers. However, a small faction was not okay with the vavany being studied. They wanted to destroy the vavany instead. Later that night, they looked to sneak into the elder's lodge and attack the vavany. Their plan was ultimatly foiled as one of the respected elders gave a moving speach about the potential uses for the vavany. And since their attack wasn't strong enough. The vavany went through a series of brutul tests. The Kolikoly selected for the smartest among themselves to wear the vavany, and if they failed to control it, would be immediately killed. This was all done in secret. However, they eventually found a Kolikoly who was able to control the vavany and the power behind it. Meanwhile, another group of fishers started searching for the other three powers amongst other Kolikoly towns and wild penguins. However, very little was found.
