Magic in Malplenan

Magic was a very weak force for as far as history extends. It was a force that was very useful for household chores, or parlor tricks, but nothing major or spectacular. What other DnD worlds would call simple cantrips were the height of magic. Research from the Khün Bür Sur Schools, independent Snezhinka and various other guilds and factions around the world could not find anything more to the known magic and the research teams eventually died out, moving on to what the world considered more important topics.   However, something in 318 AE changed all of that. It took a few years, but magic slowly grew stronger and stronger, until magic was more powerful than anyone could have ever imagined. But it still felt like there was something holding the magic of the world back from that last little bit.   Because the rise of magic plays a key role in this world, magic is styled a bit differently than in normal DnD campaigns.
  • Artificer - They study magic
  • Bard - They study magic and focus their powers through performance.
  • Cleric - They pray to gods and get power from it. But something seems off about the power.
  • Druid - They live and breath Malplenan and in return, Malplenan breathes magic into them.
  • Monk - Monks do not have magic in this world. In fact, they aren't actually monks. They are highly trained martial arts fighters.
  • Paladin - They swear an oath to uphold a god's value and get power from it. But something seems off about the power.
  • Ranger - They have attuned with Malplenan enough to be granted a small amount of power.
  • Sorcerer - ??? Having trouble fitting this one in with the world. Maybe they don't exist... yet. If you want to play them, let me know.
  • Warlock - They have made a pact, sometimes but not always through a magical artifact, with a higher being that grants them powers.
  • Wizard - They study magic and focus their powers through a physical object.
