A New World, Old Troubles Report
General Summary
Players start off in Pelgus, stumbling upon Barclay Tarosian who was threatening a mage in the alley, Crastor. Turven interfered and allowed the mage to run away.
Players go to meet with Hartigram who explains the situation of Barclay competing with his business by blackmailing his contacts and otherwise stealing his business assets.
Players agree to help for the promise of a permanent residence in the new expansion he has planned into the wilderness.
Players go to investigate Barclay to find any proof of his dirty deeds, particularly talking to the mage they helped that morning as he was caught sneaking into Hartigram's belonging.
At the college they split up, searching for the mage that was being threatened that morning. Rhys and Turven go to search for the mage, instead finding his sister, Olivia. While she tries to explain her concerns for her brother's safety, they stumble upon what they determine as her brothers remains.
Meanwhile, the others go to speak with Barclay himself, during which Aldren show his heightened social insight (activated heroic) and determined that Barclay was touched by the void. Pandora finds a fun fiction book and takes it.
They go with Olivia to investigate/break into Barclay's home to find evidence of void magic involvement. Olivia knocks out the butler and they find a secret area under his study.
Past a room of curios and objects they find a private study with maps and details all over the walls and deck. They find Barclay's personal Journal, which outlines not only the fact that he was willing to kill Crastor, but also that he was indeed involved with void magic and a plot to conquer all.
Players also discover a tortured Aelf, trapped in an attached cell.
Taking this evidence to the council, the evidence suspend barlcay's access to the college and its resources, but Barclay has left the city.
Hartigram has established a deal with the council to fund the players in stopping Barclay while also providing his own means of expanding his company.
