The Awakening of the Primordials

By this point the war had been going on for centuries. Elves on both sides began to lose their will to fight, and many were hoping for a final, peaceful resolution. Alas, this was not to be.

Dremolar Nhilithan had not been idle during the Elven War. Always on the front line, he continuously drove his hand picked troops to further acts in service to their god, Lolth. Many have proposed that were it not for the atrocities of Dremolar Nhilithan, the Elven War could have been resolved without the calamity that followed.   Growing desperate in his want to win the war with a finality, Dremolar reached out to Lolth to seek more of her power. Lolth exclaimed that while she was trapped beyond the barrier of their previous world, her ability to manifest her power was severely weakened. She told Dremolar that should he wish to gain the fullest extent of her power, he would have to weaken the barrier by freeing the primordial dragons that had been chained to power the dimensional shield.   Dremolar acted quickly, and many would say, without rational thought. While the details have been lost to history, it is said the Dremolar orchestrated the largest battle between the High and Dark Elves to ensure that it was fought on a battlefield he had prepared months in advance. The Elven blood that was spilled powered the runes Dremolar had carved into the bedrock of the battlefield, weakening the wards holding the primordial dragons, and allowing them to escape, weakening the barrier between dimensions, and allowing Lolth, as well as other beings, to begin to reach through to this new world.
