Faerie Dragon Species in Malgrave | World Anvil

Faerie Dragon

Faerie Dragons are small creatures that typically reside in areas around an entrance into the Feywild.

Description

Appearance

Faerie dragons look like a regular dragon, but they are typically small enough to curl up into the palm of a hand. They have long, reptilian tails and necks but their wings resemble more of a butterfly or mayfly's wings. They have sharp little teeth that do a surprising amount of harm for how small these creatures are. They vary in colors, but are all on the seven color spectrum of a rainbow, with parent coloring having no bearing on in their offspring.

Bite Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 1 piercing damage.
Euphoria Breath (Recharge 5–6). The dragon exhales a puff of euphoria gas at one creature within 5 feet of it. The target must succeed on a DC 11 Wisdom saving throw, or for 1 minute, the target can’t take reactions and must roll a d6 at the start of each of its turns to determine its behavior during the turn:
1–4 The target takes no action or bonus action and uses all of its movement to move in a random direction.
5–6 The target doesn’t move, and the only thing it can do on its turn is make a DC 11 Wisdom saving throw, ending the effect on itself on a success.

History

Like their Fey ancestors, faerie dragons love to cause mischief and play pranks on people. Their dragon ancestry passed along the love of collecting and hoarding treasure, however, these tiny creatures tend to collect trinkets and baubles more than actual treasure. A faerie dragon's hoard might look like a bunch of lost buttons, a thimble and a few dropped coins, but they are treasure enough for them.   Due to their magical potential, many wizards seek to bind them as familiars, though often find it is not worth the trouble or headache. These little pranksters usually are freed or the ritual is never finished because of the frustration these impatient magic users have when trying to deal with them.
