Spectross

Built on an island off the eastern coast of East Ymmarion, Spectross is a prosperous maritime city known for its pleasant climate, beautiful architecture, and rousing nightlife.  The city proper occupies a large promontory hill that overlooks the Auroric Ocean.  One one side of the city, a large bay and harbor accommodates all manner of sailing ships; from small fishing craft to large galleys and merchant frigates.   On the other side of the promontory, a long white sand beach and park area has been cultivated for use by the people.  On the highest hill in the city is the Grand Alcazar, home of the Sultan of Spectross.
Most of the buildings in the main wards of Spectross are painted white, and have similarly styled blue-grey tile roofs.  Overlooking the entire city are two towering gilded statues representing Aquorra, the Goddess of Protection; and Ocario the God of Travel and Luck.

Culture

Spectross has gained a reputation as one of the most cultured and affluent cities in all of Grand Ymmarion.  Its citizens sometimes reflect this reputation when regarding outsiders.

100,000 mixed demi-human and humanoids.  30%Human, 25%Dwarven, 20%Elven, 15% Halfling, 10% other mixed races.

Military

With the vast wealth accumulated on its relatively small island, Spectross has invested heavily in its navy, making it one of the most powerful in East Ymmarion and quite comparable to the naval might of Arkhazia.

Religion

Although the large demi-human populations have made a number of gods popular, Spectross is officially protected by Aquorra and Ocario.

With its diverse demographic make-up, Spectross has played an important part human/demi-humna relations for centuries.

Agriculture & Industry

With a booming population, Spectross has found it necessary to cultivate much of the surrounding island with farmland.

Trade & Transport

Possessing an ideal central location in the waters off of East Ymmarion, Spectross has been a hub for trade routes since its founding. Ships heading north to Arkhazia, and Sanctyra are common, as are vessels that move goods to Zunvyld to the east, and southern ports like Delvingshore and Thulmir.
