Moons of Malatoria

Two moons orbit the Malatorian homeworld.  The larger, Geon (GEE-on), is much like Earth's moon in terms of size, color, and lunar cycles.  The second moon, Pegon (PAY-gon), is smaller and red in hue.  Unlike Geon, Pegon holds a geosynchronous orbit over the continent of Grand Ymmarion and is thus invisible and unknown to most on continental Malatoria.  Pegon's unusual orbit also gives it a drastically different lunar cycle.  It is visible in the sky during the daytime, and glows a bright crescent during sunset and the hour afterwards, and sunrise and the hour preceding.  These times are know by inhabitants of Grand Ymmarion as "Dusking and Dawning Crescent."  Additionally, Pegon's position in the sky creates opportunity for frequent but brief solar eclipses throughout the year.
