The Serpent River
The Serpent River is a long, winding waterway that runs inland from The Veltrian Sea on the East side of the continent. It is the largest such waterway in all of Malan, serving as a major asset in trade, fishing, and transport for numerous cities and communities.
This River is so important to life in The Kingdom of Elos, that a major building project was undertaken to create The Edonian Canal, linking the Serpent river to the Capitol City of Edon by way of The Surging Waterway.
Branching rivers and tributaries are also believed to deliver the sacred waters to the Greel Forest, helping cities like Melemar to thrive and flourish.
Several of the great wars of the past were fought over control of the Serpent River, and though the King currently is seen as the ruler of this formation, The Mercatian Trade Authority holds great sway over those who are permitted to use it for matters of trade, especially in the eastern regions with access to Edon.
In addition to the fascinating history of this River, the Snake River also has a rich history of Myth and Legends. The most famous of these deals with the Legend of Alliganha - the Great Sea Serpent of The Veltrian Sea.
