Val Academique

Val Academique is the largest and most well-known school for magical persons in Maladase as well as several other nations around it. Though they don't teach all mages that end up being of-note, they are surely known by every mage or everyone who interacts closely with mages on a regular basis.   Previously a Wizard-only School of the Empire, Val Academique was much too big for its population when it suddenly became Maladase exclusive. Under pressure from some nobles from Baronshall who had two wild-magic children that desperately needed education in how to control their magic, the school expanded to teach Sorcerers how to harness the power behind their blood, then Warlocks how to manage their patrons and Bards how to weave music.    The Cleric school technically exists, but most of the actual Clerics are taught within local churches as opposed to within the walls of a school.    Though the school encourages all students to spend time with one another, they do tend to end up in cliques involving their denominations of magic, Warlocks hanging with Warlocks and discussing their Patrons. That sort of thing.    Given the nature of the cliques, there are teachers assigned to each of the groups but none of them are the same magical class that their students are.    Melinda Allans - The head of the Wizard Students and a Warlock herself. She is generally the most hands-off of the student's heads, considering that the thing she needs to deal with the most is students getting way in over their heads when they look into the wrong book.    Kaltherok Breakgale - A Goliath Storm Sorcerer in charge of the Bard Students and annoyed about it. What was meant to be a sign of authority and stoicism for the bards was mostly taken as a challenge. Getting a rise out of Kaltherok without getting sent to the infirmary is a weekend sport for the students. Doing it when he's out of spell slots is considered cheating.    Nina Brimstone - A Bard from the Brimstone family that used to be the exclusive owners of Brigstone Mines. Unlike MANY bards she's fairly quiet and reserved which gives her a rather interesting contrast from the Sorcerers that she's in charge of. That said, many of her students have found that her focus on artistry has forged a bond.   Akai Stormswallow - An untraditional wizard by many respects, Akai is a loudmouth dwarf with a propensity for swearing and drinking three pints for each page he reads while studying. That said, this doesn't prevent him from doing his job at all and he is possibly the most talented of the student heads, being the one intrusted to bail our Warlocks who didn't make good on their pact and all.
