Temple Guards

Each of the Mithran temples has its own distinctive set of guards. Mithran guards wear tan-coloured studded leather armour with brass helmets and orange cloaks with orange sunburst symbols emblazoned on them. Donai guards where black-studded leather with blackened helmets along with cloth patches representing the eclipse symbol of Donai. The Aiedan guards wear similar uniforms to the Donai troop except that their regalia is midnight blue and their cloth patches show the full moon that represents the goddess. The Oannes guard wear lightly armoured uniforms in sea green with their helmets seeming to be made of corroded brass.   The Mithran temple has the largest number of guards, followed by the Temple of Donai and then the Aiedan Temple. The guards of the Oannes Temple are relatively few and not often seen in the city as this sect's major Temple is a vessel permanently anchored off the mouth of the river. (However, representing Oannes in the Temple Ward is a shrine that miraculously converts river water into fresh drinking water for the people of the Ward.)   As well as providing protective services for the temple and priests, the guards also fulfil a ceremonial role on many occasions as well as providing crowd control at large gatherings. They also provide limited protection for the houses of the public and the businesses that lie within the bounds of the Temple Ward because historically the Constantine town guard is not normally allowed into this ward without permission from the Dawnmaster of the Mithran Temple.
