Parasitical Magic

Forcibly siphoned magic; (noun)

Parasitical Magic is a term used to describe the conjuring of magic via another's magic. It is generally used by non-magical beings in order to gain magical abilities, or by magical beings who wish to strengthen their natural abilities. Parasitical magic essentially drains energy form the magical source, and if this source is a magion, it can cause severe irreversible damage and often results in their death. Most parasitical magic targets small magions, often Silvidae and small Crinitidae or Squamidae, but there have been cases of attacks larger magions, often with the belief that the larger the magion the more magic can be absorbed.
The practice of Parasitical magic is generally considered vile, and is one of the most loathed forms of magic. However, it is unfortunatley a well recorded practice in the history of magions, particularly in some magic-folk lines.

  • It should be noted that some Fae have the ability to grant others magical abilitis, and there are records of such gifting in history. Such cases are not considered parasitical magic since the magic is given, not taken by force, and the grantor of the magic is usually not harmed in any way.
