Protective Wards
Protective Wards are spells which can put around people, objects, buildings or areas to protect them from harm. In most cases, wards are invisible and delicately sparkle in contact with people or animals attempting to cross it. For unauthorized people it feels like bumping into a wall. To be allowed to cross wards a person must have a special sigil known as a key on their body. It must be placed the same person who cast the wards.
Types
There are many types of wards designed to protect against different dangers. They can protect against people, animals, weather, magic, demons or magical creatures. Many wards protect against more than one thing. The easiest to cast wards are meant to protect against everything, but they are quite easy to break.
The most "bulletproof" are the wards used by government and militaries. They are said to have four or more layers of backup wards set to activate when the previous layer is being tampered with.
In civilian use, one of the best wards are probably the ones by archaeologists to protect their bases and excavation sites. Those wards are designed to protect against almost everything, but are much stronger than the common wards people can put on their houses.
