Mage Circle

The Mage Circle is a structure made of a circle of stones, placed around a nexus magical point where mny Lay lines intersect. The stones localize this point, and concentrate it to make a place particularly powerful for magical rituals. Though there are many of these Circles, the most well known to the Lakloren Empire is the Druidswood Circle.

Purpose / Function

Each stone is engraved with wards for different purposes. Mages can use circles to communicate with others in other circles, summon magical entities, commune with spirits, conduct transformation rituals, hallow objects, and enter Seeing trances. The circle in Druidswood is also designed to align with eight magical stars once every nine years. The circle can also be a protective barrior, trapping evil entities inside, or protecting people inside the circle from outside threats given the proper preperation and incantation.

Alterations

At an unknown date, a centerpeice stone was added, allowing magic to be directed easily to a specific point.

Architecture

The stones are not in any particular architectural style, but each of the eight stones is dedicated to a god or goddess. The circle should rightly be entered from the southernmost gap between the first and eighth stone. Each stone is dedicated to a god or goddess commonly used in magic work. It begins with Anthine, the goddess of wisdom and judgement. Tradition requires that she be present for most large congregations of the gods. Vivire is next, as she is the goddess of curiousity and travel. She is the diety of exploration, and scientific knowladge. She is the one who invites a human into the circle. Uwayn, the god of stone, who is present in order to call forth the power of all the stones. Next is Liya, who helps to link all the circles around the world, and sends messages between. A Mage can call upon Liya to communicate great distences. Aimas comes next, the help with inviting in omens of the truth. Agea is next, the muse of creation. Ideas start with her. Ver is after her, the ruler of the dead. She is present to help the living understand death, and speak to the spirits of the dead. And the final one, is Levana, to stimulate change and transformation, and chaos.

History

The date of it's creation is unknown, nor the identity of the maker. It was already in existence when the Haine people spread southward, and found it.
