Crow Burial
Stemming from the legend of Hett, some are buried with a crow feather on their person. This is intended to be given to Hett upon arrival in the Garden of Naldh.
History
The practice began during the Dark Age, and continues to the modern day, though it is less commonly practiced. Traditionally, the dead are buried with a crow feather in their hands, or on their person, though over time people were often buried with more, and even whole crows.
Execution
By giving the feather to the dead, it is intended that they then pass it on to Hett, where she waits at the arch of the garden and builds a set of wings for herself to escape. She intends to find her long lost love should she escape, though the effort is hopeless. By giving a feather to her, one honors the futile struggle against death, and the endless persistence of love.
