Rake

The Rake kobolds of Fogahral see themselves as the rightful inheritors of their draconic creators. As kobolds were created by dragons, and didn't simply appear following their disappearance, the rake believe this must mean they are the true ancestry that is destined to reclaim the height of their forebears. Many of the other draconic races reject that the puny, cowardly kobolds could ever inherit such power.

Rake culture is united by the shared heritage of slavery and abuse. No matter the colour of a rake's scales, they know their ancestors were pawns, servants and fodder for the dragons of old. While kobolds often feel closest to kobolds of the same colour, they all know they share far more with kobolds of any colour than any other ancestry on magarth.

Rake culture developed quickly in following dragonfall. The surviving kobolds banded together to retake draconic cities from the new ancestries and established new warrens to safeguard their livelihoods from invasion.

An emphasis on pragmatism brings out the innate cunning of kobolds. Rake settlements are defended by an ingenious array of snares, ambush points and sniping positions. The rakes have perfected guerilla tactics to defend themselves from their far mightier saurian neighbours. The designers of these defenses are highly respected in rake communities and the best inventors often rise to leadership positions.
