Wand of Unification

Known by a variety of names, but most commonly referred to as the Unifier's Wand or the Wand of Unification, this magical wand was formerly owned by Walter Kemp, the Unifier of the magical world. After his death the wand was kept and displayed, a symbolical reminder of the magical world's dark past. After all, those who forget the past will, sooner or later, repeat it.   The Wand of Unification is kept not just as a reminder of the dark past, but also as a symbol of the importance of respecting others, of recognizing others as people even if they aren't like you. It serves as a symbol of Walter's impact on the world, both its negative and positive impacts.   And, of course, with the Wand kept safe under lock and key, the odds of someone kickstarting the movement again are (at least somewhat) decreased. Much harder to drum up support if the end of your last leader is so obvious, and much harder to martyr him if you don't have any personal items to validate your group.

Significance

The Wand of Unification is made primarily of oak wood. Oak wood, in wands, symbolizes power and protection, and is generally associated with leaders, guardians, and liberators. This, in turns, tied into how Walter and his movement was seen. He was a born leader, and was guarding them, protecting them from the many evil and vile things in the world.   The wand's conduit, the magical core, is a strix feather. Strix feathers are temperamental and difficult to master, but afterwards highly consistent and easily control-able, offering him fine control over his magical feats. In more symbolical matters, striges were often seen as ill omens, vicious blood-eating animals. Though this has mostly worn off over time, as magic-users worked with the birds and grew to understand and respect them, one can't help but wonder on how Walter's best-suited conduit might've reflected on him.
