Walter Kemp

Walter Kemp (a.k.a. The Unifier)

Known commonly as The Unifier, Walter Kemp was an English magic user with an enormous impact on magical history. He was in many ways a personification of the common mindset among magical humans at the time: a man who considered magical humans to be the supreme lifeform, and better than not only Mundane humans, but also other magic-using species.
Walter sought to conquer much of the world, holding the opinion that he could do things better than existing governments. Rather than dismantle these governments, however, he made use of the fact that common opinion aligned with his own. He swayed people to his side, replacing those he couldn't sway with his own people, until no one was left to oppose him. In this manner he took over not only his homeland, Britain, but much of Europe.
Though he was eventually pulled off of his throne by a changing public opinion, Walter left an undeniable impact on magical society. In his wake, magical humans opened up to non-human people, and werewolves and others of 'impure' blood no longer faced such discrimination. Many of the governments which he took over remain connected, forming the base for a global magical society, rather than having every country stand on its own.
Some still respect Walter, still agreeing with his decisions and standpoints. However, these are fringe-people, openly disagreed with. Nevertheless, they lurk around, keeping their opinions to themselves... and those who think like them. One day, they may reappear in the light of society. But until then, they come together in the shadows only.

Walter believed that magical humans were the supreme rulers of Earth, with Mundane humans serving as underlings or done away with entirely, and saw other magic-using species as beasts and monsters. Knowing that he was hardly alone in this opinion, he wanted to change official opinions, to give power to those who shared his opinion.
