Bytyrii Burial Practices

Bytyrii Burial Practices are predicated by the need to ensure that the bodies of the dead cannot be misused and that the dangers to their associated spirits are mitigated.

History

With the remains of the body being so dangerous both to the body and the soul, all societies ensure that the bodies of those who are beloved by them, or may later be a danger to them, are properly dealt with.

The Bytyrii are no different in this intent to any other.

Execution

The various Bytyrii's burial practices are intended to ensure that the dead body cannot be turned against the community, and that the remains cannot be used to involuntarily bind the spirit that once inhabited that body in any way.

Disposal of the Body

The various sects in the Kingdom of Bytyr have different methods for the safe disposal of bodies. All involve either the destruction of the body (usually by fire) or the magical/religious protection of the body to allow it to decay appropriately. What is a common factor is that the remains will be buried in protected ground and an appropriate plant set to mark the place.
