Captain's Log #1

Mellsday, 7th Zenith 211 EoL

For my first entry in this I thought I could write something calming at first. Boy was I wrong. About everything that could go wrong from our voyage to Vrinn Island did. A dragon was frantically searching for the object entrusted to me by the Empress, I had to think quick or else my crew would kick the bucket as we were in no way equipped to fight an adult black dragon. Giving up my compass felt like a futile task, but I managed to trick that dragon and get my crew to safety into the jungle where we ventured further to find Adanum. I had to unveil the secret mission to hand over this wooden box to the Praetur in Adanum, my crew rightfully demanding why this dragon seemed to be so adamant to asking for an object. I still wonder how it is possible this dragon knew about the object, no one but the Empress me and the Praetur were supposed to know of this.   We had to rest after almost a day of walking, and we were ambushed by Lizardfolk scouts during the night. Thanks to “De Mini”s dagger of warning we were able to not be caught totally helpless and we managed to fight off the scouts with their leader running away. This seemed to be rather close to Adanum for a scout troop of that certain tribe. I wonder if they are trying to take some of their territory back anytime soon.

Finally, we arrived in Adanum and were quickly let in, made our way immediately to the Wolfden to get some rest. It kind of feels weird being in this strange place, knowing you are probably not able to leave anytime soon, especially with that bowl that entrapped the island.   After taking care of some business in the Wolfden, part of the crew made their way towards different shopping errands, “de Mini” handles that stuff quite well and she always manages to get a deal. I took the rest of my crew to finally meet the Praetur and deliver the box. The security gate was no match for Lucky s quick wit and our determination to see the Praetur immediately. The encounter almost escalated as I tried to coax out more information in regard to that Dragon attack but the Praetur was too hard to read, I still don’t like that guy and I m convinced he is hiding something. After conferring with my crew, we all agreed that the Praetur is suspicious and that we would have to watch out for him, maybe spy on him if we get a chance.   After reuniting with the girls in front of the Waitana statue, which coincidently depicts the Goliath that supposedly vanquished a black dragon centuries ago. Clearly this cant be just a coincidence, is it the same dragon we encountered, maybe a youngling of that dragon? We went on to the Merkimonum where we acquired some magic items in exchange for some of our gold but also the shackles that Tiny was carrying with him. She showed a lot of interest in my whip and the other special items that the crew had. I would rather die then part with my whip, I wonder if Tiny made a mistake, it sure feels like we got the bad end of that deal.   We wandered on to talk to Silvio, he is supposed to have a lot of information and know about everything going on in Adanum and Vrinn Island. Boy, his house is a mess! I find it very curious how this supposedly very powerful wizard kind of seems to be wasting away, very bitter and thirsty for all kinds of alcohol. We managed to get some more information, especially about that haunted house which was supposedly the home of an alchemist named Filipe that used to work together with the Dark Elves, they build the house. Also, we got information about a Goliath that went missing, we are going to have to ask the family of that individual for more information, but I have a feeling that those things are somehow connected. Silvio also talked about a few Towers that are set on the Island which might be the cause or the origin of the energy field barrier that is shielding of the Island. Silvio is a very curious character and I’m sure he knows even more, we just must ask the right questions.   All in all, I m proud of my crew. We all have each others’ backs and I’m looking forward to what we will uncover next.
