Relphi (Rell-fee)

The Relphi are a species who currently reside on Beldua, in Ak'thos. They are most known for their predictions of Ra'koom.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Relphi are a thin, bipedal species who have grey, hairless skin and distinctive cranial tentacles. These tentacles, 4-5 depending on genetic lineage, extend backward from the crown of their heads. Some Relphi have ringed markings on these appendages.

Relphi also have two sets of eyes, with the secondary, smaller set located just above their primary ones. Their eyes colour can vary a lot, however reddish hues, whether in eye coloration or accompanying markings, carry deep cultural stigma. This aversion stems from ancient beliefs relating to U'krhith.
Red-eyed Relphi are more likely to be encountered in space, living among alien societies or working in neutral territories.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Relphi are omnivores, with their daily caloric intake typically ranging between 2,000 and 2,500 calories. Fish, crustaceans, and mollusk-like creatures make up a significant portion of their protein intake, due to their homeplanet being rich in freshwater and large lakes.
They also enjoy consuming small insectoid species, usually roasting ot drying them out first before consuming. The majority of their space-faring rations are a mixture of ground insects and plant matter.

Genetics and Reproduction

The Relphi lay eggs, usually shallow freshwater pools specifically designated for reproduction. In modern times, the Relphi have developed nutrient serums to add to pools to aid with growth.
A typical clutch consists of 4 eggs, though batches of up to 5 are not uncommon. The eggs require 6 to 8 weeks of submersion in water to fully develop, and upon hatching, the Relphi young are semi-aquatic, possessing gill-like structures that allow them to remain submerged for extended periods. These structures atrophy as they mature, gone by adolescence.

Civilization and Culture

Having left their homeplanet, due to predictions that it would be destroyed, a significant portion of their population has adopted a semi-nomadic lifestyle, working as traders, researchers, or explorers across the galaxy. The rest have taken up residence within Ak'thos.

Humanity

After the Humans arrived to Beldua, the Relphi was cautious and observed them for a number of years before deciding to initiate direct contact.
Despite their initial fears, humanity responded with measured curiosity, and since then the two species have collaborated on a number of technological projects, focused primarily on areas of mutual benefit. Humanity's use of nanomachines and robotics have been a source of intrigue for the Relphi.
