Undead
Undead is a term used to describe once-living creatures that have been animated by some spiritual or supernatural force, typically necromantic energy, an unholy curse, or other magical corruption. Undead include walking corpses or albulatory parts thereof, as well as bodiless spirits.
Undead Subtypes
- Mindless Undead: These undead are typically created to be slaves and guards, as they do not tire or grow bored, nor do they need food or water to sustain them. Instead, they will follow their masters' commands without question, though they are not capable of following complex instructions.
- Hungry Undead: These undead are cursed with a ceaseless, overwhelming hunger for the flesh or life essence of the living. They will relentlessly pursue their prey and may demonstrate feral cunning, though most are beyond reason or communication.
- Intelligent Undead: Intelligent undead are independent of any master and can manage their baser instincts well enough to develop complex plans and agendas. They are aware of their own weaknesses and will frequently set up their lair in a way that will even the odds in case of an attack.
The power and prevalence of undead have waxed and waned since their first appearance during the Year of the New Prophets.
