chromatic dragon

Chromatic dragons are an almost universally evil type of true dragon, distinguished by a solid, non-reflective color to their scales. Chromatic dragons typically worship the dragon goddess Tiamat and lord over lesser races with fear and cruelty as they amass their hoards of gold and other riches.

Chromatic dragons believe--not without reason--that dragons are the true rulers of Lyranthium, a title that was stolen from them by the humanoid races, whom they see as mere vermin. Not only this, but they believe that the chromatics are superior to the more innately benevolent metallic dragons, a belief fostered by their goddess. This arrogance leads to a ferocious territoriality, barely tolerating others of their kind for long even for the purposes of mating, and seeing "lesser races" as food or potential slaves rather than allies or threats.
