Crescent Glade Highway

The Crescent Glade Highway is one of the largest and most famous routes in the free lands, starting at Rhyrelir in Brauron, running from Timbercliff across the full width of The Republic of Adria to Neracatha, and finally into The Kyrtesian Commonwealth, ending at the coastal capital of Argan.

The word "crescent" refers to Selune, goddess of the moon who, legend tells, fled along this route immediately after The Perfect Dusk, when her twin sister, Shar, sought to destroy her with the help of the evil deity Anaia-Itzal. Some versions of the legend tell that Selune escaped into the Crescent Glade Bay, finding safety at the mouth of the Selune River - also named in her honor. However, some inhabitants of further eastern lands have long contended that Selune continued to retreat by land all the way to the city of Argan on the coast of the Arawa Ocean proper. This version of the legend has gained increased popularity in the last century, and is often perpetuated hand-in-hand with promises of the better life to be found in The Commonwealth. Meanwhile, purists of the former tradition sometimes refuse to recognize the Crescent Glade name for the portion of the highway east of the bay, insisting that it veers south and terminates at Cythos.
