Luquastra

Luquastra is the world at the center of existence, the material plane of mankind. It is home to large oceans and landmasses, including the Three Great Continents: Galessia, Fennerland, and Asmarea. Populated by many peoples and their nations, as well as beasts, monsters, and countless other types of creatures, Luquastra serves as a home, workplace, sanctuary, place of worship, and playing field for all who inhabit it. Luquastra has one moon called Enum and is sustained by the light of the star Amano.

Creation

Legends speak of the birth of the universe as the doing of one being, although different legends disagree on their identity. The most prevalent tale tells of a lone God, an enigmatic being known only as the High God, who existed in a singular void of nothingness. The High God grew lonely, and spoke the first word ever spoken: Commence. From their word, realms expanded, and thousands of worlds populated them. As the High God wandered through their new creation, they found one world at the heart of the universe, equidistant from all worlds and planes, a perfect center for the beings they hoped to nurture, from which they could behold all of this beautiful creation as a forest of stars in the skies. The High God thus called this world Luquastra.   Luquastra’s waters were rich and life-giving, yet shrouded in a seemingly eternal mist. The High God, in their might, managed to clear the mist in a part of this world ocean, and commanded landmasses to arise from the depths. Next, they brought forth the beings to populate these lands, giving them many forms, many different biologies with different advantages. And finally, the High God commanded other divines into existence, to govern the different aspects of reality these beings were to encounter. Life flourished on Luquastra, taking the shape of humanoids, animals, plants, and monsters. Seeing a natural balance taking shape, the High God was satisfied, and left Luquastra to never return, though some believe them to be eternally watching from their perch beyond existence.   Once the High God left, however, the fate of Luquastra was left to the others. Some of the divines summoned lesser deities to aid them, some created homes in other planes, and some vanished almost as soon as they were created. Some prime and lesser deities created their own magical versions of life, sending them to live among the others, too. Others corrupted existing beings to follow their bidding, and the most powerful among them even began to impact the fabric of the entire world, and with it, the young universe that surrounded it. Gods waged wars with one another, slew one another, all upon the battlefield of Luquastra.   One of the divines, Ilseias, took pity upon the people of Luquastra, caught in the web of divine orchestrations that they had no hope of comprehending - orchestrations which often cost them everything. Calling upon his allies, Ilseias channeled all divine power he could access and carried out a cosmic severance known to history as the Rend. Following this, the material and divine were separated, and the people of Luquastra were finally free to dictate their own reality. This became the point of origin for the Luquastran Calendar, and the start of humanoid history.   Though physically removed from the material plane by great force, the divines still act upon Luquastra through their various churches, worshippers, and champions. The state of religion in Luquastra represents the divines who were torn from the world during the Rend, and the faithful strive to follow their teachings, whatever they may be.
