Halflings' Plight

The Halflings' Plight is the term used to refer to the mass deportation of halflings from their original homeland, the Verdant Hills, by the Kingdom of Grasynnia during the Zenith War. The term was coined by halfling writer Argo Squillin in his book titled The Tragedy of Argo Squillin, or: the Halflings' Plight, and has been slowly growing in use over the years since its release and Squillin's subsequent disappearance.
To this day, it remains a mystery as to what compelled the Grasynnian regime to empty the Hills. During and immediately after the war, the Dragonbane regime attempted to minimize knowledge of the deportation, declaring it simply an evacuation for the safety of the citizenry. After Squillin's book revealed the truth to the world, no official statements have ever been made again, and the Hills remain eerily empty and quiet. Today, the event is largely considered a strange footnote in the dense timeline of the Zenith War.
