Tremad Spirit Callers

Composition

Manpower

It takes at least 150 Elves and 50 Pteranodons. Some formations can be as large as 500 Pteranodons.

Equipment

The Elves ridding will wear light cloths and the occasional leather. The goal of the riders is to stay as light as possible while flying.

Weaponry

The claws of the Pteranodon will be shielded in ceramics or iron and the two attack riders will have iron, ceramic, or wooden hooks that come down from each hand. These hooks will be swung at enemies to try and skewer them. The wooden and ceramic hooks will often break off upon impact causing shards to puncher wounds in the target and surrounding enemies. The iron hooks will often bring the target back up with the Pteranodon, where they will be dropped back onto the battle field.

Vehicles

The Pteranodon is trained by the main rider. This woman takes full responsibility for the Pteranodon and everything it does. Years of training occurs before the Pteranodon is allowed to fight among the callers. For each victory a new white painted strip will be placed onto the Pteranodon, until it is pronounced a captain and its head is painted black.

Structure

There is a clear chain of command. The main rider is in charge of her Pteranodon and the other two attack riders. The main rider answers to the captain of her crew. There may be multiple crews flying at a time but they will work along with each other, not answering to one another. The captain answers only to the matron mothers.

Tactics

The Pteranodons will fly high over the battle and as the archer's circle is formed start to strike down out of the sky. A Pteranodon will not stay near the ground long enough for the enemy to attack instead pulling back up into the sky. This swooping motion will continue until most all enemies have been killed. At that point the Pteranodon will land and allow their riders to kill the last few by hand.

Training

It takes years of training to become a caller. They normally start as archers or hunters before transferring onto the Pteranodon mounts. Many of the best and most renowned archers will be asked to serve as callers.

Logistics

Upkeep

The tribe will pay callers quite well. Giving these women places of honor within the tribe - large houses, best husbands, and many luxuries that they may want.
