Session 46 - Emil's Plan Goes Awry
General Summary
The evening started innocently enough, with the entire party indulging in a refreshing dip in the nearby river, save for Groump, who had run off into the woods, and Dukh, who eschewed fraternizing with the strange naked humans, and sought out some food. Khoma offered him some pies.
As the rest of the party frolicked in the water, Ivan found himself the center of attention, his exotic appearance (i.e. his horns) drawing admiration from those around him, especially the girls Masha and Galia. Agnessa and Marina Ilinichna also joined in, but hung back from the main crowd. Nadia jealousy bubbled over, leading to a confrontation with Galia, who had shown particular interest in Ivan. Marina was drawn toward Ivan also, but she prayed, and the feeling lifted.
Following their swim, the group returned to the shore, where the influence of the drinks began to take hold. A dance around the fire ensued, with Ivan's presence igniting the festivity to new heights. However, the atmosphere took a strange turn as illusions of animals appeared on the faces of those who had imbibed the alcohol provided by Khoma.
The circle dance around the fire was to be followed by couples leaping over the flames, making magical wishes for good fortune and fecundity. Ivan and Nadia were highly sought-after partners, but Ivan revealed to Nadia that he could not jump with anyone, as he was experienced and promised to another, so leaping over the flames would bring a great curse down upon their heads.
Sensing the need to depart, the party made their way back to town. Ivan, with Marina's help, managed to slip away from unwanted attention, while the rest of the group reunited with Emil, who had been collecting the magical mud water that earlier transformed him into a dog.
Ivan and Marina headed for Piotr's house to collect their things prior to leaving the village. Their plans disrupted by the mystical locking of his gate, After they managed to go over the gate, the party faced unexpected adversaries in the form of dog-headed creatures that were left to guard the house. Marina, initially overwhelmed, found her resolve, fighting fiercely alongside Dukh, who arrived soon thereafter. Finally, Agnessa arrived as well, and with her mystical aid, they managed to breach the gate, allowing Ivan to retrieve his belongings while the others held off the creatures.
Emil had returned with Agnessa, and went to fulfill his plan regarding Nadia. The two argued for a while inside Piotr's compound, and when Nadia finally emerged, she was followed by a familiar-looking dog. She simply shrugged at Agnessa his aunt, and suggested that she bore no responsibility for any of this.
