The Aelves

Illusive, alien, and peculiar are the Aelves of the Calmest Peaks; one of the Great Elder Races who have been in existence for as long as Croft has. Once, the Aelves were a sprawling, powerful race with kingdoms and subjects around the world, but now their numbers dwindle as time erodes their long-forgotten cities; swallowed up by the kingdoms of Men. 
The Aelves live to keep living, as secrets of longevity are their way. They view the body as holy, but imperfect; regularly partaking in the alteration of blood through the ministration of Ancestral Flesh into their bodies. The Aelves wish to live forever, and this singular focus has lead to their downfall. A lack of new thinking minds leads to the same mistakes occurring over and over. The Aelves that remain are mystically beautiful and as alien to Leofrians as the Cosmos. They are as feared as they are respected.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Elves range from under 5 to over 6 feet tall and have slender builds. Their eyes are cloudy and far apart, and their pointed ears are sharp at the tip.

Genetics and Reproduction

Reproduction is heavily monitored. Only a select few can have children so that they can guarantee a prodigious child.

Growth Rate & Stages

Although elves reach physical maturity at about the same age as humans, the elven understanding of adulthood goes beyond physical growth to encompass worldly experience. An elf typically claims adulthood and an adult name around the age of 100 and can live to be 750 years old.
