The Primordial Faith

The Primordial Faith is the oldest religion in Eostrea and the official religion of Primus. According to their beliefs, the world was once inhabited by an advanced civilization. But the sky grew angry at this civilization for becoming too powerful and trying to match the gods' power. So it struck the earth and destroyed those people. Shortly after, one of the gods descended to the earth to build a new civilization. He is usually referred to as "The Original One" or sometimes even as "Primus" or often simply "The One". He is said to have rebuilt civilization, leading them by his many rules and doctrines, which are outlined in the Primordial Script, their religious text. Each doctrine is accompanied by a story explaining why it exists. Primodians, or those who practice the Primordial Faith, believe that strict adherence to these rules is necessary to creating a flourishing society, satisfying life, and keeping the gods appeased. While Primordians do believe in the existence of many gods, The One is at the center of their religion and the one to whom they most often pray. The most common theme within The Primordial Faith's doctrine is the idea that one should not try to rise above one's heaven-given strength, unless by powers also sent from the gods. That is to say, they believe that trying to enhance one's abilities using any means not found in nature is blasphemous. This is what led to their hatred towards advancements in technology, and their preference towards magic and artifacts, which they believe to be divine signs of worthiness to power.
