However, as resources and details were scarce and closely guarded by what groups did discover them, there was no way to confirm this theory. The discovery of Oceanus however changed everything, as not only did they bring mountains of evidence of this once great civilization, now known as Thalassia, they themselves confirmed that what had once been theory was history. Though there are still some that dispute this claim, it is widely accepted that Thalassia did indeed exist, and that Oceanus is the last remnants of the civilization that once spanned a more expansive Eostrea, according to Oceanian records. According to Oceanus's recorded history, the cataclysm that brought about the greatest mass extinction on record came from the sky in the form of a giant falling star. There was only a few days of warning, and despite the best attempts of Thalassia, only those in the very outskirts of the meteoric impact were able to survive by using an ancient form of Body Magic to change themselves and live underwater. By comparing modern maps with Oceanus's records of Eostrea's previous size, it has been confirmed that this chaotic disaster also caused the continent of Eostrea to shrink by almost a fifth of its former, explaining the many jagged sheer cliffs in the outskirts of Eostrea that drop straight off into the ocean. All known knowledge of Thalassia's level of advancement only shows that they were at a level far beyond the current nations of Eostrea, even Oceanus due to having lost much of their records in the catastrophe that followed. their fall.
