Rialta

The Rialta family is a powerful family both politically and magically. They are a bloodline of Avarians with a trend towards having an affinity for Water Magic. They originated around the coastline portion of Estheos in modern-day Oceanfall. This location gave them plenty of time to hone their magical abilities, and when combined with the Amplification Gem their family had acquired, they quickly gained a reputation for being the most skilled Water users in Estheos, and some even say all of Eostrea. However, they also gained a reputation for being particularly ambitious, some even say to the point of recklessness. This tradition began around 49 BU with the then head of the family Finn Rialta, who was fascinated by the mysteries within the water and wanted to further research and explore it. Even today, the ocean has a reputation for being a dangerous location to explore, but back then opinions on the matter were even worse. Nevertheless, the Rialta family's influence was already great enough by then that Finn was able to put together a crew to try to study the ocean. The technology at the time was still relatively primitive, so their findings did not surmount too much. However, it did create a standard that the family still lives by to this day. The Rialta family is now Lucean's leading expert of marine life. They are the primary source for water little information exists about The Ruby River, as well as the little information that was known about Typhos before communications with Oceanus began. They are also credited with founding The Estheos Marine Biology Institute and have given funds to Novaria for their sealife restoration program.
