Genetheos
Genetheos is the second oldest of the Five Land Nations on Eostrea. Their civilization began on the northern bank of The Blood River. While the resources gained from being a river civilization certainly helped them to prosper, the true source of their bountiful harvests and beautiful countrysides comes from the power of the Jewel of the River Dragon, an ancient magical artifact that brings magical blessings to the nature of their land. This has led to a long-standing rivalry with Estheos, the country founded on the southern bank of The Blood River. Both Genetheos and Estheos claim to be the rightful owner of this jewel and have gone to war over it many times in the past, causing the jewel to constantly switch which side of the river it's on and consequently, which of the two countries currently has a bountiful harvest. The government of Genetheos is run by a parliament of representatives from the many villages, towns, and cities that make up the nation. The number of representatives a city has is determined by that city's population, so there is a strong culture around increasing the population of cities, either by encouraging people to move to their cities or encouraging large families. On the one hand, this often leads to cities taking great interest in keeping their citizens satisfied and ensuring that families are given the resources they need to raise their children. There are lots of public facilities, parks, and government aid in Genetheos. On the other hand, this can just as often lead to cities trying to cram as many citizens as possible into tight cities, and it is not uncommon for people to live in housing that is far too small to accommodate them. The strong culture around large families also often leads to those with small families getting ostracized from society. Those who are unable or do not wish to have children are often shunned by their communities, and it is not uncommon for only children to be bullied in school.
