The Horrors

The horrors are immensely important to the world of Ebelar. They act as gods over the world, with control over almost every aspect of the land. However, there are a few key differences between a Horror and a God. A God is all powerful, all knowing, and often benevolent. Horrors are not. Horrors are extremely powerful, but not all knowing or all powerful, though they often seem to be so due to their infinite lifespan leading to an accumulation of power. They are often not benevolent. They are almost human in mindset, and often seek entertainment and self fulfillment above all else.
"In the beginning, when there was nothing, there were horrors" ("History of Everything: Kids", James Theril).
When one particular universe began, the horrors that entered it realized quickly that the universe they had chosen was ruled over by gods, and the gods were not friendly to the horrors.
There are seven Horrors that rule over Ebelar
"...pseudo gods. That's what they are. They aren't gods, but they're pretty damn close."
- Nori Dolor, Scholar at the University of the Horrors, 682 AL

The Creator

Lawful Neutral
The Creator is, as their name suggests, the primary horror behind the large majority of creation in Ebelar. They are fond simply of building and observing how their actions affect the lives of Ebelar's inhabitants. They are neither good nor evil, simply a being of creation.
Avatars known: 5-10
The Creator takes warlocks, paladins, and clerics

The Destroyer

Chaotic Evil
The Destroyer is the only horror that is in many ways evil. He seeks solely to destroy and cause suffering, as he finds it entertaining. What stops him from destroying the entire planet is simply the desire to be entertained by suffering, and simply causing an extinction would not be very entertaining. He is believed to be kept at least partially in line by the other horrors.
Avatars known: 14
The Destroyer takes warlocks, clerics, and paladins

The Kind One

Neutral Good
The Kind One is a one of the only horrors that is genuinely good in nature. Her main goal is to seed as much joy throughout Ebelar as possible and to make sure that every individual under her care leads a positive life. She takes joy in having a positive impact on Ebelar.
Avatars known: 3
The Kind One takes clerics

The Giver

Lawful Good
The Giver can be described as a mix between the Creator and the Kind One. Like the creator, he takes pleasure in the act of creation, but like the kind one desires to improve the lives of the inhabitants of Ebelar. He is logical by nature, and is willing to go to great lengths to defend what he believes is right.
Avatars known: 5
The Giver takes warlocks, paladins, and clerics

The Trickster

Chaotic Neutral
The Trickster is a selfish horror, focused primarily on his own entertainment. He is known to be mischievous and often cruel in his pastimes, often causing unnecessary suffering for the sake of entertaining himself
Avatars known: 20+
The Trickster takes warlocks and paladins

The Child

Chaotic Neutral
The Child is a horror that is believed to be younger, or at least has the personality of a child. He is naïve and often easily tricked. He is often driven by a desire to entertain himself, but not to hurt others, though he often does this unintentionally regardless.
Avatars known: 9
The Child takes warlocks and paladins

The Leader

Unknown
Little is known about this horror. It is known to exist, and is known to be the horror that led the stealing of Nova Solaris. It is believed to have a great deal of control over the other horrors.
Avatars known: 0
The leader has not been known to take warlocks, clerics, or paladins
10,000BL
The God War rages on, a massive battle that led to most horrors being driven out or killed
5,000BL
Only a small amount of horrors remain, tucked away in the most remote corners of the universe
100BL
A few select horrors grow bored and restless, and band together to form a plan
20BL
The group of Horrors select a world to call their own, and in a quick strike they create a small pocket dimension and place the world within it. However, the world almost immediately withers and dies, leaving behind nothing but a husk of the lush planet it was. It is now known as the Horror Moon. The horrors are dissatisfied
0BL
The horrors reconvene and make their second, and ultimately successful attempt. Instead of a single planet, an entire solar system was whisked from the universe, never to be seen again. The pocket dimension, known as Nova Solaris, grows in size
Avatars of the Horrors

Horrors have at any time the option to take an avatar, which is essentially a form of their choice, usually humanoid, that they insert all or part of their consciousness into as a way to be more immersed in the world they have claimed. It is likely the numbers listed for the numbers of avatars each horror has taken is higher, as it only factors in known avatars. It is likely there are far more that simply remained unknown.
