Wizard

Career

Qualifications

Wizards must endure extensive training and schooling under specific and prestigious universities to get a full license for their craft.

Perception

Purpose

Wizards serve the elite as advisors, bodyguards, or weapons. Left to their own devices, most wizards plumb the depths of the universe for its secrets through arcane and scientific pursuits, uncovering valuable information.

Social Status

Wizards are, more often than not, feared by the common folk, and seen as a necessary evil by the elite. Their disregard for religion and the oftentimes reckless nature of their endless experimentation justify these fears in the minds of most people.

Demographics

Very few people become wizards. While anyone can learn the craft, only the extremely gifted or extremely wealthy are able to become legally practicing wizards.

History

Traditionally, wizards have always been sought out as logical advisors and powerful bodyguards or even as weapons by the elite. As the practice of wizardry evolved, different techniques and methods were developed, leading to the necessity of the formation of different schools. Eventually, wizards would gather together more and more to share knowledge and learn, and so the colleges were first created. Today, flew colleges remain, and they are bastions for mages of all kinds to seek refuge.

Legality
The practice of wizardry has been strictly controlled since the Witch Rebellion of 324. Since then, every training wizard must enroll themselves in a registry of potential spell casters kept by the Order of the Hammer. Those who practice wizardry outside of college grounds must have a valid license and registration on their person, consisting of a palm-sized gold disk inscribed with magical information and a small scroll with proof of registry to the Book of Witches.
