The citizens of Ankriech identified themselves as part of the world's driving force in technology and magic, and strongly held to the idea of individuality and achieving on your own merits.
Assets
Ankriech has one of the best navies in the world and have a fierce initiative against the likes of pirates and vigilantes. It did possess the city of Talgren which gave them a huge boon to their economy but have not spent much to repair it sense then.
History
From Monarch to Democracy
170 years ago, King Lucilian was 93 and knew he was on his last leg. Lucilian had several children in his time but they all died so he had no heir. Instead, he took to reading ancient texts where he uncovered the system of democracy. "I was looking for a way to live forever but this is easier" he set up a system of governors who would be elected by the people in the cities from a local council who would also be elected. The de facto executive leader of the country would be the Chosen King and re-elected every 7 years.
5 years ago, during the War of Marsolomon, its city of Talgren was destroyed and turned to ruin. The city was the economic cornerstone of the country and provided more than a third of its income. During that time the Queen of Mordesent sent in several members of her personal hand to interfere with the elections and undermined its democracy in a time of crisis. Governor Zarrikor was elected as Chosen King but when he was discovered to be part of Marsolomon's Cult, a coup de tat was performed, overthrowing him and the country of Delgue swooped in to take the cities of Talgren and Larias while more inland villages were left to rot away.
