Fregherikan Democratic Republic
The Fregherikan Democratic Republic is an independent, multiplanetary republic that lies to the galactic west of Sol, and south of the Lordanian Cluster. To its south lies Tartarus, and the Neutral Zone. The Republic declared its independence from the United Nations of Sol-Aligned Systems during the Serajji Conflict. It has remained independent since, despite numerous attempts from Sol to reintegrate them peacefully.
The Fregherikan region has been occupied by humans since the mid 22nd Century, when settlers charted the Riptmala System, eventually settling the planet Freghera, and its moon Sashtera. For much of Sol history, Fregherika has been a region of the UNSAS, though one with a fierce independent streak that took full advantage of a weakened Sol.
The Fregherikans are largely focused around a heavy industrial base, with planet such as Osetin serving as production capitals for the outer human regions. Similarly, the Republic lies at the crossroads of various important intestellar trade routes, such as the one between Lordania and the Netural Zone, and the route between Sol and the Union of Radical Transhumanists. Both are profitable routes that earn the Fregherikans a reasonable amount of money.
Politically, they are considered a Presidental Democratic Republic, with multi-planetary campaigns to elect a sitting President of the Republic, who appoints members of their party to the various Planetary Presidents positions. It is seen as moderately democratic, with the Fregherikans having value in their independent institutions, most of which are less than two decades old.
