The Bonner Boys

One of the greatest adventuring parties to ever exist; The Bonner Boys lived at the center of a maelstrom of arcane and natural disasters, geopolitical upheaval, and threats both draconic and fey. Their strife ultimately led to the end of the old world and the birth of the new.   First, there were three party members. Daryl Berry, a halfling bard with dreams of writing a great hero's story, met Danger Grassyash and Mirian Fireraven in a bar fight as one does. Danger was a half-orc barbarian content to smoke and screw his way around the landlocked nation of Bonner. Mirian was a half-elf rogue and professional duelist emotionally recovering from a recent defeat. They didn't initially bond because of choice, it was circumstance. They found themselves stranded alone of captured together. Even adding a fourth member, Indigo Fury the elven druid seeking out the murderer of their tribe, happened in an extraplanar event that saw the party trapped.   But when they were given the choice the party chose each other. They crossed Bonner and discovered buried secrets of their world. Daryl and Indigo both transferred blood with the blue and brass dragons respectively and became magically linked to them. They led the army of Bonner in the battle for the sky against the dark elves. They were declared official heroes in their country.   Mirian was killed by the Moonlit King, marking the first great loss for the boys. Even so, he was not dead. Mirian raised himself again as a revenant of the Shadowfell. He was briefly replaced by Lyr, a gnomish prison escapee who needed help rescuing his brother.   Indigo was corrupted by the Moonlit King and turned against the party. In time he was restored as well, forced to undergo Dragonbirth to burn the king out of him. During his absence, a young water Genasi ranger named Jett worked alongside the boys while searching for her missing father.   After 5 years in the elemental planes, the Bonner Boys added Imdril to their number. He was a dark elf and former soldier who only ever sought survival but nevertheless found himself on an epic quest with former enemies.   Their adventuring years reached their climax during the devil invasion of Loom. The Bonner Boys led the Council of Dragons to victory over the Devil Legion. There are stories of more adventures they had. Stakes as high as all of time and the universe itself. Adventurers since have claimed membership; most notably the Giff author/Rear Admiral Pat Mahaney. But to the rest of the world the story most satisfyingly ends there.

Structure

The Bonner Boys never had any established leadership positions, but they did rely on near total consensus to make any decision that effected the party.

Culture

From their perspective, it was always the Bonner Boys against the world. They looked out for each other and their families, but they did not appreciate disrespect and rarely gave it either.

Public Agenda

The Bonner Boys were almost always cleaning up a mess they had inadvertently caused, but their most famous cause would have been the formation of the Council of Dragons.

Assets

With two Dragon Councilors among their number, the Bonnner Boys had access to both the blue and brass dragons.

History

The Bonner Boys formed when they accidentally awoke Cerulean in 6 BD and ultimately kicked off the awakening of all the dragons.    Within a few months their enemy Merielle bound herself to the black dragon, scarred Mirian's face, and murdered much of Daryl's community. Merielle turned the sun black and brought an army of dark elves to invade the surface. The Bonner Boys led the fight back and Daryl Berry became the first dragonborn to defeat her.    More dragons and dragonborn appeared, creating chaos across the country until the Bonner Boys made them gather together and come to a truce. They had a common enemy - The Fey Lords. The Moonlit King had killed Mirian and taken Indigo, corrupting the druid down to his bones. They turned Braes into a beastial shadow dragon, killed Bastion the Black Dragon Councilor, and goaded the council into open warfare. The Bonner Boys saved their friend but were lost in the elemental planes for half a decade. They returned to a country under the control of the fey lords. The Bonner Boys had to find their shattered council and restored them.   Then the devils invaded. The Bonner Boys led the Council of Dragons to defeat them within days of their arrival. What could have been the end of the world was undone. The Fey Lords were defeated in the chaos. Loom was saved and the Bonner Boys became legends.

Journals of the Bard

Daryl Berry's bardic accounting of the boys' adventures is largely responsible for their own fame. His narrative fell into the hands of famed theatre producer Emelio Chesterfield midway through his adventuring years, leading Chesterfield to produce Progeny of Dragons, a darker, maximalist show about the return of the dragons from their perspective featuring only a few of the Bonner Boys in its script. Years later when Berry would try to write their story himself his own collection of journals would be incomplete and he would have to rewrite much of the first using Chesterfield's own show to jog his memory.
