Aasimar

The Aasimar are a sacred and rare presence in the world of Logos, chosen by the Divine to be His voice and hand among creation. Though they are born as ordinary Humans, the Divine anoints them with His grace, setting them apart as messengers and servants of His will. These individuals are also called prophets, and through their words and deeds, the Divine speaks to all creatures in the world.

Anointed by the Divine

The Divine recognizes and anoints certain humans to become Aasimar, granting them a divine mission. This selection is mysterious, not based on lineage, personal merit, or strength but on the unfathomable will of the Divine. Upon their anointing, the Aasimar are marked by an unmistakable holy presence, often radiating an aura of light, warmth, or peace.

Each Aasimar is given a task or a series of tasks to fulfill in the world, and they are entrusted with words—prophecies, commandments, or warnings—from the Divine. These tasks are not always grand or public; some are quiet acts of healing or guidance, while others are sweeping declarations of judgment or calls to repentance.

Bearers of Prophecy

The Aasimar are most renowned for their prophecies, messages from the Divine that often foretell coming calamities, judgments, or moments of great significance. These prophecies are both a blessing and a burden, for they frequently carry dire warnings:

  • Calamities and Judgments: The Aasimar often speak of impending disasters, whether natural, spiritual, or brought about by the choices of mortals. These warnings are intended to turn the hearts of creation back to the Divine, urging repentance and faith.
  • Hope and Redemption: Not all prophecies are grim. Many Aasimar bring words of hope, promising restoration and mercy for those who seek the Divine.

The weight of their words can shake nations, rally armies, or turn the hearts of individuals. However, they are rarely welcomed, as their messages often challenge pride, complacency, and sin. Instead, Aasimar are often rejected by the very people they are sent to help. Others react to the Aasimar by misinterpreting their presence and attempting to worship them as gods. But most simply ignore their warnings, continuing in their ways until it's too late.

Wielders of Divine Power

The Aasimar are imbued with incredible power by the Divine, a reflection of His authority working through them. This power is not their own but is granted to them as they walk in alignment with their divine calling. Examples of their abilities include:

  • Radiant Manifestations: Aasimar can channel holy light, driving back darkness and evil. This light is not only physical but also spiritual, capable of exposing lies and purging corruption.
  • Miracles: They can perform miracles, such as healing the sick, calming storms, or striking down enemies of the Divine.
  • Divine Presence: Their very presence inspires awe and fear, often compelling those around them to listen or take action.
  • Judgment and Mercy: When necessary, they can deliver judgment upon those who defy the Divine, or extend His mercy to the repentant.

Despite their power, Aasimar know they are but instruments of the Divine’s will, acting out of obedience.

Imperfect but Anointed

Though they are set apart, Aasimar remain human and are not immune to the struggles of mortal life. They can experience doubt, fear, and even failure, for the Divine does not strip them of their humanity. However, they walk in a unique relationship with the Divine, constantly guided by His presence and strengthened by His grace.

When an Aasimar stumbles, they are called to repentance, just as all mortals are. Yet their connection to the Divine gives them a resilience and purpose that few others possess. They serve as living examples of faith, showing that even flawed mortals can carry out the will of the Divine.
