Eker was but a fledgling when his tribe was attacked by a small group of wyvern. Many of his tribe were killed by the beasts, unable to escape them. As one of the wyvern dive-bombed at the injured Eker, the boy pleaded for someone to rescue him and those that remained of his tribe. Little did he know who would answer his prayer. Clouds billowed in seemingly from nowhere as the wind picked up. Eker took to the skies with the last of his energy to try and flee. After all, aarakocra are more agile in the air. However, as he lifted into the sky, two more wyvern closed in on him as he neared the clouds.
The wind howled loudly in response to the screeching of the wyvern as they came within feet of him. Suddenly two giant talons reached forth from the clouds and snatched the wyvern that had nearly captured the young Eker, causing the clouds to burst apart. As the clouds dispersed they revealed the deity of wind, Roc, had come. With ease and great speed the avian deity eliminated the wyvern threat, leaving but a few of Eker's tribe alive after the massacre. The fledgling Eker swore to Roc that he would stand by him as thanks for him answering his prayers, and thus Roc took Eker in as his medium.
