Structure
The nation is ruled by the church of the Sun Goddess.
The nation is run by a council of 6 religious officials (all of Elven descent) who work alongside the current high priestess, Hava Aztara.
High Priestess Aztara is the 3rd High Priestess in the Sun Land history. She is an Elven woman who celebrated her 500th birthday on the 5th day of the Month of Loyalty, 997 AC. She has been the High Priestess for 456 years.
Culture
Faith is the most held virtue of the Sun Lands. To be with faith is to be virtuous, good, elite. To be without faith is seen as pitiful, and having a demonic faith is vile.
The people of the Sun Lands are pious and work to better themselves to honor the Sun Goddess. While extremely individual, they work together to care for their young and interact often for trade and religious ceremonies.
Public Agenda
To spread the word of Ahovz. Missions are often sent out of the nation in order to tell the wonders of the Sun Goddess.
History
The Sun Land has existed since the beginning. It consists of the desert region between Qwiv and Hakasha. The Sun Goddess placed the Elves in this land, and in honor of her they based their society around their faith to her.
Territories
Most residents live in the eastern deserts of the Sun Lands. While there are some settlements towards the western coast, most of the west is uninhabited due to the giant sand worms that call that part of the desert its home.
These sand worms were created by Erif as an act of vengeance against Ahovz. His agents placed the creatures in the Sun Lands and they have grown too many in number to eradicate.
Military
The Sun Land has an elite group of protectors known as the Order of the Sun. They work as civil protectors in towns and also patrol the boarders.
The most desired post is in the Holy Place, protecting the Great Shrine.
Members of the order are sworn to protect the name of the Goddess and the people of her nation.
They are titled Knights and dress in armors accented with golden suns.
The majority of members of the Order are Elves. People are only permitted to join if they have been called by Ahovz to serve (this often happens after they completed Ahovz' trials). No Elves under the age of 50 are able to join the order.
Technological Level
The Sun Land has fully embraced gas and steam power when it was founded in 714. After steam power was founded in 714, thinkers in Qwiv developed the train. After it was proven to work, the Sun Lands worked quickly to construct railroads which made transportation across the nation simpler.
Other than their transportation system, they have done little to bring their society further in advancement. Torches still light their homes, animals and carriages take them short distances, and resources are collected by hand.
Religion
The official religion is to the Sun Goddess. A small portion of the people follow Lun, and following Starz is rare. Those who follow Starz are often stigmatized - seen as silly or immoral.
Demonic religion is forbidden. Those found to worship them can be banished or put to death.
Foreign Relations
The Sun Land relies mostly internally, however they have a close relationship with Hakasha for their rich gold veins.
They are not close to nations that have high demonic worship such as Vibrum and Drasta. They further have expressed their condemnation for the actions Drasta has taken against Halflings for centuries.
Trade & Transport
The Sun Lands has an extensive railroad system that leads to the boarder of Hakasha and also enters/connects to the systems in Qwiv. All trade is taken on the train.
Boat transport is limited as they deal mostly with Hakasha and Qwiv.
Education
Education is handled by the church. Each town has a temple where families take their young to be taught.
Priests and Priestesses teach children the core necessary information, but stress religious tones throughout the lessons.
Worship
Worship in churches occur on every 7th day (Sunday), and private shrines and daily worship (prayer) occur in the home.
