Bryce Aleanth
Lord Commander Bryce Aleanth
The Devil In Glasses
Originally, just a young man from Lakevale that in his opinion was quickly, violently and quite unpleasantly pulled from a comfortable life of smokes and mirrors into the uncomfortable truths of reality and legacy. Questionable the titular 'hero' of most stories set in-universe, and counterpart to Jeradon his partner-in-crime, cousin, and closest friend. Unlike Jeradon, Bryce never wanted it, any of it. He never wanted to go on adventures, he never wanted to live up to his family's legacy (much less surpass it), and he most certainly and very vocally didn't want to attempt saving the Lislow or universe. As fate and circumstance would have it he never got his wish and against his will entirely he was pulled into the swirling pool of fighting and politics that was life on Lislow. Being the polar opposite of Jeradon he never quite settled into the adventurer life and preferred to exist on the sidelines and in the shadows, ultimately and somewhat to his chagrin, following his family's legacy of manipulation from the shadows.
A Wolf In Lazy Nerds Clothing
While proper schooling and studies never suited Bryce he did excel at them, if and when he ever applied himself, but those moments were far and in-between. So few and far between it was greatly to his detriment as he was essentially laughed out of the Academy and his own team after failing miserably in Sun'seir's Hero Games. Finally admitting defeat to his almost pacifistic ideology, he swore to never be caught like that again and embarked on a different type of training path. With what would later become the founding members of his legendary group, he set off across Lislow, roughing it as an Adventurer and Wanderer for several seasons, being put through Adventurer boot-camp in the toughest way possible.
He gained (and lost) friends over these years, but when he returned to Sun'seir he was paces ahead even Jeradon who had spent the same time training at the Academy and being active with the newly founded Vindicators, and Maximus Lorkoth who was a highly trained legacy Caster with years of experience on them both, but remained with the façade of a weak and lazy boy still under the impression they can get by doing nothing.
The Prodigal Son In Denial
While it took him longer than most to come into his great potential, Bryce's abilities did emerge after the Wards of the Monolith faling. At first it seemed to have effected him worse than expected. While Jeradon was able to master Enhancing and Elemental Control immediately, Bryce had great trouble finding his Natural Affinity or footing in any School or Division of SoulBurning for years. He managed to get by on the basics and only really Burning in moments of intense emotion, but on his journey he discovered it was greatly his own mental blocks and fear of what it meant to do what he knew he could do.
Once emerged he still appreciated keeping his abilities low-key and relied heavily on his growing physical prowess, but began refining techniques on Air and Water Elemental Manipulation which ultimately led him to finding his talents over Jeradon in much greater Casting Abilities and discovering Aura Manifestation.
A Villain In The Shadows
Upon his return and adaption into proper adventuring life with The Shards, the continent was promptly thrust into several more conflict both local and universal. Seeing how, especially Lislow, dealt with such conflicts Bryce's distaste only grew for how things were being run by the previous generation. With the founding of his own Team (The Unseen), he set out with a singular goal in his mind and hellbent intentions on finding answers no matter the cost. For a long time he, and most others, saw his bloodied crusade across Lislow and the Galaxy as somewhat just and deserved, even if ruthless and at times morally questionable, but that waned over the years as events kept coming to light, bodies kept piling up and more and more of his tactics, no mater the consequence, began crossing too many lines.Realizing there was no way to get the world to see it his way, Bryce and his team ultimately made a pact with The Vindicators and while their 'Holy and Righteous' counterparts paraded around and glorious heroes, they faded into the shadows. Manipulating and controlling Lislow and large chunks of the Talthorian political scene from behind closed curtains and in dark corners.
