Akeem (ah-keem)

• Born to King Badala of the Pekee Pride with his twin brother Makeen and younger brother Hakim a year later¹
• Their father would teach them of the way of the strong lions; its a mountain's duty to stand above the grass. They took to this mentality well
• So when they came of age, they left to take over a pride and make their father proud
• He and Makeen, being the better fighters, went ahead and overthrew the old king Zuia of the Hatari Pride¹ and then left their little brother Hakim as its new young king to rule and take over responsibilities while they would travel and enjoy freedom and free food supplied by their new pride
• As he and Makeen traveled and enjoyed the landscape, messing with smaller creatures, stealing food, having swims in every bit of water they could find and, Akeem did all the romancing with the ladies while Makeen happily wing-manned
• Eventually they returned to their brother in the Hatari Pride. Akeem was not happy to see Hakim had a cub in the meantime.
• Enraged, in fact, into attacking the little Mtoto². Only further angered that the little brat's mother Dwala and her sisters got in the way to fight back before running from the pride altogether.
• Once out the way he settled to have his own chosen heir which he named Kukata
• Annoyingly around the same time, Adea³, a lioness that he'd had a fling with a while ago appeared with his offspring, Kula⁴
• He had no use for her but she was his blood so he let her live in the pride and when his twin Makeen took to looking after her instead he didn't care.
• She became useful as she grew up for hunting and eventually, to produce more hunters. So he arranged for her to have a cub, except she took off with the resulting Sumu not long after his birth, much to his simmering anger
• No matter, his son Kukata would take to the throne with iron claws and had his own son Taji to carry on his legacy

Source Material

1. In the book 'Be Prepared: A Twisted Tale' a pride is mentioned called the Hatari Pride with the name of it's king Hakim and his two brothers Akeem and one unnamed (which I have named Makeen). Two brothers that help rule a territory on the way to Garamba ? The jungle where Timon and Pumbaa raise Simba and they run into 'Tanglemane' who said he was a king overthrown by 2 rogue males? Crazy coincidence? Maybe. But I decided to link the two so I named this old lion Zuia and he is the previous king of the Hatari Pride.
2. Mtoto is apparently referenced in the 'TLK' Puzzle Game as a friend and cousin of Simba. Since Sarabi also supposedly had sisters scrapped from the original Lion King movie script, so I linked him with one of them: Dwala.
3. Adea is one of the lionesses seen in the Scar comics as being in Mufasa's pride but since she is not mentioned as being around in the pride during Scar's rein - as well as a number of Simba/Nala's childhood cub friends - I had reason to have her exiled to explain twice the absences
4. Chumvi and Kula are two lion cubs that at the very least are friends with Nala (although assumedly Simba too) as seen in the Nala's Dare comic, as such they are considered semi-canonical characters. Everything else out them is not stated or shown and so has been inferred or made up.
