Lachendon

The Great Evil, The Nameless Dread, Lich King, Undying Lord. There are many names for the most terrible destroyer and conqueror the world of Lia'Neir'Aratha has ever known. Lachendon's origins are shrouded in mystery, deep within the Dawn Times. What is known is that Lachendon somehow learned the deep and terrible secrets of the magic of Unlife, and mastered those secrets in time to transform itself into an unliving horror filled with terrible corrupt power. This horror somehow entered the court of The First of All, and drew forth the life force of every individual then present, feeding the souls of its victims to its phylactery to enhance its unliving power. Eventually, Lachendon completely conquered the oldest of all civilized lands, then expanded its conquest to much of the known world, seeking to replace all living beings with unliving horrors. This centuries-long effort, which very nearly succeeded, is known today as the War of Undying.
