Korth Wall
Loremaster, why is it that the histories talk about terrible wars with the Korth tribes, and we say they are always the attacker, but there are no battlefields, no razed towns, no evidence of war?
Youth, there are many. They are not in the peaceful states you know well, however. The Korth tribes live on the Korth Steppe a region of high plateaus north of the Linibian States. Between the two is our greatest defense, the Korth Wall Mountains. The vast bulk of battles are fought there, as the tribes travel through the mountains, burning and pillaging the mining communities, and assaulting the fortified towns and cities of the independent city-states in the mountains themselves. There, in the rocky terrain and high altitude, battles fought and blood spilled, are quickly lost to elements and time.
The Korth Wall, or Korth Wall Mountains, is a massive mountain range, running over a thousand miles east-to-west and stretching between 50 and 200 miles north-to-south along it's length. It forms the transition zone between the varied terrain of the Linibian States and the Korth Steppe. This region of impossibly tall mountains, deep valleys, wild lands, and wilder inhabitatnts, attracts all manner of adventurer and monstrosity alike. It is also the wall against which the Korth Horde breaks and shatters with every war launched from that evil land. Time and again, through centuries, the goblinoid Korth hordes gather under warlords until their numbers are vast, then march south to assault the civilized lands, but meet resistance, and danger, in the peaks and ravines of the Korth Wall, and only a minute fraction survive to enter the Linibian States which, well warned, easily defeat these remnants. Sages argue that should the Korth ever find a means to bypass the Korth Wall, the Linibian States would fall within months, as there is no civilized force in existence capable of standing against the numbers the Korth can send to battle.
