"I will run a game in the world of Linebound eventually. I swear."
-Me
Steel or Keel
In the announcement stream, Janet mentioned something about forty prompts. It was a mistake but I'm going to take it too far and do an extra nine prompts from the random prompt generator this month. Given the sky sailing and pirates in Linebound, keel hauling is an appropriate reference for failing this challenge.
Location Focus
Burim is one of the first nations I created for Linebound but also one that hasn't been developed. Whenever possible, I will attempt to write about
Burim this summer. If I have a really great idea that takes me somewhere else, I won't ignore that. The following may change as the nation becomes more fleshed out but the main ideas are:
- The most desirable area of the nation is on the edge of the island which has been fully developed creating one long city.
- As the population grows and immigration increases, the value of property is rising, causing gentrification.
- The less desirable area includes the lakes that only fill with rain where the Muck Drudgers live.
Writing Focus
This year, I will make sure that everything I write has a direct use in a tabletop game. Linebound is intended to be used for tabletop roleplaying but this is rarely reflected in my articles. These are some ideas on how each article can be applied directly to a tabletop game:
- It is an item and contains an item stat block.
- It is a creature and contains a creature stat block.
- It is a location and contains information about possible environmental hazards or setbacks.
- A culture or ethnicity can contain a list of recommended career skills.
I have made an
Article Layout Template. This template will evolve over time as I try to incorporate additional images into my articles. Right now I only use a header. I have reorganized my articles but am still fairly unhappy with the result. Either way, I had trouble uploading the screen shot of that section of the homepage.
Community Focus
My fellow worldbuilders of TableTale and I will be working to encourage each other as we have in past Summer Camp events. I will ask my friends, players, and GMs for feedback - if they're willing to give it. If I feel really brave, I may even share an article with the wider World Anvil community because they are 'AMAZING!' as Janet would say.
I intend to stream my writing and if I find time, help other tabletop gamers with their articles on stream. At time of writing, I have no one on board with this but hopefully we get something good going! I need to remember to:
- Stay positive.
- Give constructive feedback that is also kind.
- Ask questions to encourage writing instead of always giving suggestions.
Time Commitment
With a changing work schedule, community engagements, and three tabletop games on the go I will simply have to write when I find the time. Late at night instead of watching more
Star Trek or early in the morning before work. Like a bicycle ride to Newfoundland, I will make it happen.
Article Release Plan
Each article will be added to the TableTale chapter tracker and released to my writing club. If there are any articles I am particularly happy about, those I will share to my WorldAnvil followers or in the Summercamp channel on the Discord.
