Shattered Isles

"17th Cycle We have yet to find any island to resupply and will have to turn around tomorrow if we do not spot an island. The crew is getting irritated and the further rationing has not helped.   18th Cycle It was time to give the order to turn around when some clouds cleared ahead of us and revealed an island. The crew is hoping to find food and I must admit that I am excited as well.   19th Cycle We have arrived on favorable winds but it isn't an island as we first thought but a series of miniature islands, some no larger than the Barle. There are a few plants that might be edible.   23rd Cycle Navigating the Shattered Isles as the crew have begun to call it is no simple task. Since we can't sail under or over the islands, the only choice is around. There have been a few close calls with islands lower or higher than us, if we end up under or over one, the ship will fall.   27th Cycle Today we lost Ralba who was out searching for food on one of the larger islands. Not long after that a menacing buzz filled the air. We turned around at the first opportunity.   28th Cycle We spotted something moving between the islands but we ignored it and continued on our way out."

Geography

Many islands and rocks of varying sizes compose the Shattered Isles. Many of these are covered in thick layers of mud that is believed to be held in place by the roots of the grasses and other plants that grow in the region.   It is difficult for ships to navigate between the rocks because they shift slightly and also because the varying heights of the rocks make it difficult to judge when the ship might be under or over one.

Fauna & Flora

Mushrooms are common in the Shattered Isles and appear in astonishing variety.
