Oralett Fuscogati

Heroine of an operatic epic.

"Ascalon, do you have any final words? Do you remember my father?"   "I am not he who you seek vengeance upon. Ascalon was my father. He has long been buried beside his fellow warriors."

A Character of the Stage

Oralett is the central character of Tellura Kirsgool's epic, The Spear of Ascaron. The Spear of Ascaron is actually four separate operas that tell one story. The story follows the life of Oralett from the death of her father, a soldier, at the hands of the enemy general Ascaron to her facing down the son of Ascaron in the final play.   After her father is killed by Ascalon, she swears that she will kill him. Throughout the cycle, Oralett proves herself as a combatant, and is particularly skilled with the spear. Eventually, she ends up leading the battle in which she defeats who she thinks is Ascalon but he has been dead for many years and she has just slain his son. She weeps for the death of the son and for the life she spent preparing to kill a dead man at the cost of the love of her life. This remorseful song is the final one in the four-work epic and is considered the greatest song that Tellura ever wrote.

Appearance

Because Oralett is a character of fiction, her appearance varies based on who plays her and the decisions of the director, costume artists, and makeup artists. Whe is commonly portrayed as being of average height with long hair. Her most iconic outfit is that which she wears for the final battle, a plate cuirass emblazoned with a hawk, the symbol of her father.
