Muck Drudger's Tool

A new cycle begins and with it the difficult labor of drudging the muck. Hasem left his home, shovel in hand.
It was an old thing, he thought, it would need to be replaced soon.
Hasem arrived at the mud lake and joined the others who were there early, no one had started work yet, they were just talking to each other. To survive a cycle working the mud you need to make friends and talk, that is something Hasem learned on his first day.
Eventually it was time to work, Hasem raised his arms up high with the others. The shadow of the crossbar blocking the unending light from his eyes.
"The fish can't hide from us for Araaba is with us!" they all shouted in unison.

Manufacturing process

Wood is shaped into the handle. The crossbar is made with a hole so the shaft slides through it, they are then attached with leather. A head made of bone or metal is attached to the end.

Significance

The mucker's shovel has special importance to the muck drudgers. Each shovel is designed for the person who will use it. The length and postition of the crossbar are set so that the shovel is the easiest to use for the owner. These aspects are determined by height and are affected by species.
